Physical Education
At The Milford Academy, our vision is to increase pupil’s physical activity levels and provide opportunities for as many pupils as possible to engage in regular physical opportunities.
We endeavour to provide opportunities to develop pupil’s capabilities to take part in sport competitively and be successful.
Physical Education at our school – our intent
Our curriculum has been designed to provide a holistic experience for students – developing them not only physically, but emotionally and socially too. We hope to provide opportunities in PE that develop transferable skills such as leadership, teamwork, decision-making and resilience, supporting the development of life skills. We believe that our curriculum provides opportunities to develop competency in a range of activities, to engage in competitive sports and recreational activities and promotes leading healthy, active lives in school and beyond.
At our school, we employ two Sports Coaches and one Sports Coach Apprentice to deliver a high standard of physical education for all of our pupils, within a caring, happy and safe environment. Both the Sports Coaches and classroom teacher recognise the important role that physical education plays in all areas of a child’s development.
