Art & Design
At The Milford Academy, we aim to inspire the Artists and Designers of the future, fostering enjoyment and engagement in the Arts. Our Art and Design curriculum is ambitious, creative, relevant and progressive. At the Milford Academy, we believe that it is our responsibility to pass on powerful skills and knowledge to our children. Thus, we aim to deliver a curriculum that empowers pupils with knowledge and skills as well as challenging them to think creatively. The Milford Academy works with partner organisations, such as, Nottingham Contemporary and the Nottingham Schools Trust to offer wider, inspirational Art and Design opportunities.
Our pupils experience a wide range of inspirational, creative projects within the Art and Design Curriculum. Pupils learn and explore age-appropriate skills, knowledge and techniques progressively throughout their school journey. Art and Design knowledge includes a wide range of media and aspects, including drawing and painting, printing, pattern and 3D form. Art and Design projects are linked to topic work to give a context which helps pupils make connections in their learning. Pupils have the opportunity to study a range of Artists. Activities are planned in each phase to ensure a progression of skills, techniques and media. These planned, creative, progressive activities foster aspiration and enjoyment in the arts. Art Ambassadors across school are inspiring other pupils to develop art techniques and think creatively.
Please have a look at the documents below that outline, in detail, the Art & Design curriculum our pupils experience.
