Year 1

Year 1 | The Milford Academy

Hello and welcome to the page for both Class 3 and 4! The teachers in Year 1 are called Miss Weatherall (Class 3) and Mrs Baggley (Class 4). Miss White, will be supporting both classes.

Watch this space for updates and photos of the exciting learning taking place in Year 1.

This half term we have been learning all about The Great Fire of London. The children have learnt all about where the fire started, how it started and how it ended. They have discovered that the reason we know so much about The Great Fire of London is thanks to Samuel Pepys’ diary.

In Science this half term, the children have been learning all about plants. They have done an experiment planting seeds in different methods to see if it affects the plants growth. They have also made their own plants showing the flower, leaves, stem and roots.

We also had an exciting opportunity to attend a virtual gallery visit. Where the children had the opportunity to have a look around the art gallery. They then had a chance to make their own art. The children made human sculptures, one child was the sculpture and the other children in the group were the designers.
