Year 3 pupils were able to benefit from a clay project with Nottingham Trent University. Year 3 pupils visited the university to benefit from the support of specialist Art students and resources. They were able to use 3D modelling skills in clay as well as link this to their Ancient Egypt topic by creating clay canopic jars. Pupils were able to develop modelling skills and techniques as well as bring their topic learning to life.
Later, the pupils were able to use glazes to paint their creations and then have them fired in the kiln at Nottingham Trent University. The results were outstanding!
What a wonderful experience for all involved.
Many thanks to the pupils, parents, students and staff at NTU for making this partnership such a positive experience.
A special thanks to Liz Ruston at NTU for organising this partnership project.
