Medicines in School

A reminder that if your child has prescribed medicine which requires it to be administered during school hours, you will need to fill in a form with your child’s class teacher and hand the medicine to a school adult.

We can only administer medicines not prescribed by a doctor under exceptional circumstances, agreed by a senior member of staff and parents.

Children should never be in possession of drugs and medications at school. This includes cough sweets and lip balms. Some of these products contain active ingredients which may cause side effects, which would not be monitored by adults. There is also the risk of cross contamination if children share them with friends, which would also be unmonitored by adults.

Thank you for your co operation.
