Year 3 had an amazing residential experience at Caythorpe Court. The aim of the residential was to develop Milford values as well as promote self confidence and team building skills.
Children needed motivation and determination to conquer vertical challenges, such as abseiling and Jacob’s Ladder. They needed to show respect to instructors and peers while learning new skills and helping each other. Independence was needed to pack and unpack their own things, select meals and navigate self service systems as well as get themselves ready each day! Many new skills were learnt on the residential, including, using a bow and arrow, belaying ropes holding peers, den building, helping peers and packing our own cases!
The residential gave children a chance to try challenges they would not come across during everyday school life. The challenges helped us develop self confidence, understand the need to help each other, follow instructions carefully and think about our personal safety. It was wonderful to see everyone achieve something they initially thought was too difficult!
There was also time to develop friendships, learn new games, work as a team, help each other and generally have fun!
Well done Year 3 – you were amazing!
