All about me

All week we have been learning about ourselves.

At the beginning of the week we started by painting self portraits.

Looking in the mirror helped to identify features  i.e. eyes, hair and nose.

Look at our budding Picasso’s!

Learning what’s inside our body’s was interesting and creating our own skeleton was fun.

Here we made sandwiches and chose the filling. …Egg and Cheese ?

The children showed great concentration when spreading the butter on the bread.

This child has recognised body parts and where they belong.

The children  made healthy choices for their lunch boxes.

All week the children have been bringing in lots of spare change for Pudsey. Look how much we collected, WOW.

Next week activities are planned around our five senses

Seeing,Hearing, Smelling, Tasting and Touching.

Class 11 Bake For Children In Need

Class 11 accepted the challenge of baking cakes to be sold at the Children In Need cake sale.

Mrs Rowe prepared the classroom and gathered utensils whilst Miss Groves got the ingredients.

Children learned about weighing out ingredients and following the recipe. The children then put the cakes in the oven over breaktime and left them to cool. In the afternoon we made icing and decorated the cakes with multicoloured icing and sprinkles.

To make sue they were goo quality the children had to sample them.

“They were fun to bake and taster very good, especially the icing!” – Baily

Today’s been  a great day, I have learnt something new and helped towards raising money for Children In Need” – Connor

Visit to St Mary’s Church

Next week, Year 2 will be visiting St Mary’s Church. We will be walking down to the church in the morning, returning to school for lunch. If any parents would like to assist the children in walking down to the church, please let your child’s class teacher know.

Thank you,

Miss Watts

Children in Need 2018

Friday 16th November – Children in Need

On Friday 16th November, we will be supporting the charity Children in Need. Their vision is that every child in the UK has a childhood which is:

  • Safe
  • Happy and Secure
  • Allows them the chance to reach their potential

Please see the website for more information about particular charities that Children in Need supports.

We are inviting children to wear non-uniform for a donation of 50p. The theme is Spots or Pudsey related clothing.

Each class will have a ‘Pennies for Pudsey’ which we aim to fill with loose change. Every penny counts! Please bring in your pennies throughout the week and we will do a final count on Friday.

We will also be holding a cake sale in the Infant Hall after school. Every year our cake sales are a huge success thanks to the local community, families and Academy staff that donate and buy the cakes. If you wish to donate any cakes for the cake sale, we would really appreciate it. Please see Mrs Smith or Mrs Ford for more information.

We look forward to supporting this worthwhile charity.
